APPLY / NOMINATE A BUSINESS

APPLYING FOR A BUSINESS AWARD

Why should you nominate your business for a local business award?

  • To walk away with a win is a brilliant achievement with instant gratification but it’s not all about the win.  Nominees and finalists experience a host of benefits with short term and long term standing:
  • Nomination is a chance to showcase areas of distinction and highlight examples of innovation, creativity, leadership and positive impact.
  • Nomination presents exceptional marketing and PR opportunities to increase brand awareness and your business profile.
  • Progressing as a finalist instantly improves credibility and authority to peers and prospective partners.
  • Recognition as an ‘Award Winning Business’ gives your business a distinct competitive advantage and will add gravitas to your promotional material.
  • Participating provides unique opportunities to connect with and learn from like-minded nominees.  This valuable networking can help improve strategies and secure future opportunities for growth.
  • The application process provides a platform for business owners to reflect on business practices and improve future performance.

What types of businesses are eligible to nominate?

The awards are open to all local businesses operating within the Frankston City Region.  Whether you’re a sole trader in start up phase or a long standing SME with solutions worth shouting about, nominating your business will prove it’s worth participating.

Entrant Tips

Be sure to stand out from the crowd! Here are some tips to writing a winning application!

• Use testimonials, quotes and evidence • Qualify answers with specific results

• Use images that relate to the answer (avoid random fillers)

• Consider displaying information in tables

• Draft an answer to a question each week (starting with difficult ones first)

• Tips and scores are included in questions – refer to them

• Encourage time management and avoid rushing at the last minute

  • Prepare succinct and relevant answers to the questions. Read each question carefully.
  • There are set word limits that must be adhered to. The use of bullet points is acceptable. Remember, a judge is reading a great number of applications and you want to stand out!
  • Submissions are best written in the third person with an engaging and compelling narrative. – If your answers were to be published in a book or a case study, how would they read?

The identity of a nominator is not taken into account by the judges. If your business is nominated, this means your nominator believes you are worthy of recognition.

The judging process and the feedback provided by judges after the gala ceremony enables applicants to consider changes to their business model and operation which may increase their professionalism and competitive edge.

The gala ceremony,  not only provides an excellent opportunity to recognise the finalists in each category and reward and promote the winners, but also provides a great social occasion and a valuable networking opportunity for all attendees.
